Neck Stretches

Basic Neck Stretches

These simple neck stretches will help with basic flexibility. Should your complaint worsen or you have any concerns, you should seek medical attention immediately.

Sitting.

Bend your head forward until you feel a stretch behind your neck. Hold approx. 20 secs.

Repeat 3 times.

Sitting.

Tilt your head toward one shoulder until you feel the stretch on the opposite side. Using your hand gently pull your head further to the side. Hold approx. 20 secs. Repeat to other side.

Repeat 3 times.

Bend your head backwards as far as is comfortable. Hold approx. 20 secs.

Repeat 3 times.

Sit in a comfortable position with your back supported and a towel around your neck.

Gently tighten the towel against your neck by pulling down. Keeping the tension, turn your head from right to left.

Repeat 5 times.

Sitting straight-backed.

Pull your chin in, keeping your neck and back straight (not tipping your head forwards). Hold at the end position and feel the stretch in your neck.

Repeat 10 times.
